Oran Brumley has been in and out of the penal system since the age of 17. His most recent sentence is 38 to life for attempted murder. Brumley, who was 53 at the time of the crime, entered the home of an 80-year old man and stabbed him 27 times in the neck, chest and back. The victim survived the attack.
Brumley believes some inmates, especially those who have acclimated to living as a convict behind bars, are unfit to re-join society. He cites himself as an example of such an inmate: "If they turn me loose today, I’m tellin’ ya, I’d be in your house tomorrow. Because I don’t know nothin’ else."
