Man brandished gun after getting mad about soda tax, prosecutors say

"Victims told police Shelton entered the store and was angry over being charged 22 cents in tax for a $1.79 2-liter bottle of soda, according to court records and Assistant State’s Attorney Claire Savaglio.

“(Because this) is my neighborhood, I’m tax-exempt,” he said, according to court records.

Shelton returned to the store around 1:45 p. m. carrying a Gucci satchel, from which he pulled out a loaded gun, according to Savaglio and court records. He began waving the gun around “while yelling that he was going to shoot and kill everyone in the store,” according to court records.

“I’m going to shoot you in the head three times!” he said, according to court records."
