This year's Roundabout of the Year winner is the Stonehills roundabout on the A38 in Tewkesbury, Gloucestershire. The huge £70,000 wooden sculptures of a victorious Yorkist knight on his horse and one of a horse without its Lancastrian rider on a nearby grass verge were put in place this summer. They mark the site of the famous Battle of Tewkesbury in May 1471 during the War of the Roses when the Yorkists defeated the Lancastrians. The monuments on and near the roundabout were spotted by Kevin Beresford, who travelled the country to judge entrants in the best roundabout contest.

A mum-of-five was spooked when she found the face of Jesus in the wet cement of her new floor. When workmen had to relay her bathroom floor, Freda Murphy took pictures of the floor for insurance purposes. When the 52-year-old looked back at them she was astonished to see the face of the son of God in the black shiny floor. After seeing the visage which looks similar to that of the Turin Shroud (inset) she rushed back to check and noticed the clear white outline on the ground.
