An Aliquippa man was arrested on Friday on charges of sexually assaulting and seriously injuring a retired nun while she was walking in a church parking lot in Beaver County.
Andrew Clarence Bullock, 18, is charged with rape, aggravated assault and related crimes for the attack in the rear of St. Titus Parish in Aliquippa, a criminal complaint states.
The nun, who is in her 80s, was undergoing surgery in a Pittsburgh hospital for a jaw injury suffered in the attack that was reported at 11:26 a.m. in the parking lot off Sheffield Avenue, said the pastor, the Rev. Paul Householder.
The nun had left the convent and was “dropping off papers in the (recycling) bin,” he said. “No one witnessed the assault. People heard her calling for help, saw her lying there and ran to her aid. Her jaw was hurt and she was unable to speak.”
