yes i think people voted for him simply because they liked his movies and his overall cool demeanor and charisma

Yes beacuse lots of charismatic film stars have become politicians

And people who vote for charismatic and cool people tend not to be too intelligent.
Sensible people vote for someone who is competent

ronald reagan and jesse the body ventura come to mind, did they have kennedy connections?

and yes stupid people vote based on stupid reasons, the women you white knight often vote for the guy that is taller or more handsome :)

Something tells me Arnold married Shriver just for the Kennedy association in order to have back door access to the political elite. Arnold is smart, but when it comes to women he has always mainly had a thing for Latinas. This was a strategic marriage.

I met her at the Arnold Classic about 20 years ago.

In person she was reasonably attractive.

Most media are left orientated. So being a republican Arnold got a lot better media coverage (or was attacked less by liberal media) because his wife was a democrat.

They didn't like him, but respected her so they were less evil on Arnold.
By all accounts, a very smart move to marry her.

And the Kennedy network is priceless. They know everybody, and anyone that counts knows them. That opened a lot of doors for Arnold.
