I'm pretty sure that's the same Jon Andersen below, who won North America's Strongest Man in 2003:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jon_Andersen

^ For some reason I thought he had won it closer to 2013.  I think in a 2014 video, he may have called himself "North America's Strongest Man", so I assumed he was the previous year's winner, but I guess not.

My issue with these videos is that they make it sound cool and hip to be a long-time juicer, and motivate people to train hard while ultimately killing themselves - as was the case with Dallas McCarver.  He was definitely not afraid to work hard, but it ultimately cost him his life.

It's nice to work hard towards a goal...but at what cost?  Is it really worth it?  It's all well and good to put in the work, and put in the time, but again - at what cost?

I don't think people should be juicing that hard at 40...let alone at 50.  And if there is one thing these work ethic lifting videos always fail to mention - it's the steroid aspect.  Also - what does he have left to prove?  I looked at his resume on that Wikipedia link above, and it's perfectly fine as it is.  I guess I just don't understand this mentality, given the risks involved.

The guy went full retard a long time ago. Pretty much every major body part on him has synthols. Traps and quads as well as the usual places.

Doesn't even need it cos he's fucking huge and muscular anyway.

Hey Flexacon - In the TA thread, I apologized for being mean to you!!  Sorry for being mean to you.

Damn, Jon looks good there.  As you said - there's no reason for him to use synthol.  Has it ever been made clear exactly how synthol is processed and removed by the body?  Is it excreted by the kidneys, or what?

Greg Kovacs [RIP] described some of the driving forces behind body dysmorphia below - although he didn't mention it by name.  He described the psychological issue/crisis faced by bodybuilders, when they retire, get small, and go back to looking normal:

Quote
In bodybuilding, we are judged on our appearance, so when our appearance fades it is apparent to everyone. Our appearance can be perceived as our relative "skill level". In other sports, skill level is demonstrated within the act, or performance, of the sport. When a bodybuilding enthusiast meets a legend that has long since retired, the legend will be smaller. The bodybuilder has retired, his skill fades and he gets smaller. However, in other sports, Wayne Gretzky or Michael Jordan will always appear to be who they are. You can't see their skill fading away even though they couldn't perform like they did in their prime. The idea or memory of how they used to perform is still in your head, unchallenged by a current visualization of the deterioration of their skill level.

^ Damn...powerful way to put it, especially by someone who ultimately died young as a direct result of his bodybuilding career.

You can’t just assume someone is unhealthy because they are muscular that is nonsense he obviously works out often you do realize there are health benefits to exercise

wood-healy
please shut your face-hole aka "cobbler gobbler"
massive overuse of anabolics and being in that state is a known state of 'unhealth'
no amount of exercise (im sure hes not a cardio nut) will make him healthy
inflammation, liver, heart, kidneys, etc
all bodybuilders say they are at their most unhealthy when in prep and on day of show
every time you speak you weaken the nation
please move out of the land of delusion and into reality
he is at the most unhealthy he could be

Take away the drugs and he turns back into Clark Kent.

Probably deals drugs to make a living.

Will be dead soon.

Wife is hot.

"A self-described “porky and picked-on” kid, Jon is the youngest of his brothers and quickly discovered that his lack of athleticism would keep him overweight and unhealthy."

The end.

He’s built like a vanilla Ronnie Coleman post-retirement but pre-surgery w/ synthol. Love the intensity but fear for his health!

How do you know he is on massive amounts of anabolics? How do you know he has any liver or kidney issues? Anabolics are anti-inflammatory last I checked every study on the subject. He is not in prep for any kind of show. Dehydration is what makes show prepping unhealthy not anabolics. Dude appears to be extremely healthy for a man his age.

None of you have any idea what kind of health the man is in. But you all want to claim he is dying from anabolic "drugs" to further justify why he is jacked and you are not?? We see this all the time on getbig. Anyone who is in any kind of shape gets called out for supposedly being on their death bed due to anabolics which is utter nonsense. In realty everyone is just hating on anyoe in better shape than them and making excuses to justify why they suck instea of giving the man credit for being 50 and looking great. Also I am not seeing any obvious signs of synthnol usage again another accusation that gets thrown around to put people down for achieving any size. Are his traps huge yes is there something in there no way to tall based on what we can see in this post.

Dallas Carver choked to death nothing to do with lifting or training or anabolics just plain old eating too fast and taking too large of a bite of food.

we'll just ignore the severe heart disease and other ailments on a mid-20's kid. (Thyroid cancer, bad kidneys, pre-diabetic).
some have said he suffered a heart episode (or insulin issue) while eating as well. we wont know, as wont you mr wood-healey.
Ok  ???

According to the people there at the time they had to remove food from his espophogous before attempting to revive him aka he choked. If any of you have every tried to force feed and have had a scare you would know this can easily happen and is scary when it does. Nick Walker had a near food choking incident himself

He also tested positive for marijuana did the marijuana kill him fuck no it didn't he choked

i think the rona may have done him in
yes, i was like hanshaw, meat stuck in my esophagus
they put me out, went in and got it ( i was out the same morning after the anesthesia wore off)
that doesnt mean dallas wasnt unhealthy
he was a ticking time bomb.
im not saying drugs killed him, im saying for a mid-20's kid, his medical issues were off the chart when they cut him open.
atherosclerosis, kidneys, heart, thyroid, etc.
im not anti-gear i just know its not good for you
even 125 mgs of trt will raise hematocrit (blood thickening) and lower HDL (so even a minor dose needs to be monitored)
these guys are doing 20-times that (2 grams) plus orals, insulin, GH, peptides and anything else they can inject (pmma, synthol, etc)
mental-illness

It’s more common than you think and over half the choking deaths are over the age of 74 it’s not just children who choke
