Pressing 225-pound dumbells isn't intense?
Moving quickly between moderately-heavy sets isn’t the only calculation of “intensity”.
For example: Squatting 500 for 10, ass-on-ankles, likely produces more intensity than the next 20 sessions by your average IFBB pro.
Having said all this, yeah, kid is gonna injure himself, sooner or later (he hasn’t REMOTELY earned such strength). He already is massively injuring his insides.
You`re right Rob and I agree for the most part.....using heavy weight is intense.
What I was inferring is that when you are going that heavy,it is very hard to establish a mind/muscle connection due to the fact that you have to be so careful balancing the weight and the joints, ligaments and tendons take a beating and do most of the work.... plus with some idiots momentum is extreme, and you need a ton of guys to hand you the weights and they have to be good spotters.....a rarity these days for some reason.
I used my share of heavy weights {for me of course}, and started out as a powerlifter but rethinking it now,the heavy weight added no extra mass and that is the reason most bodybuilders train heavy to build more mass .....much of any new muscle garnered from training like this is lost when dieting down......it would have been much better training lighter and faster and eating more food.
First set twelve reps ,rest a minute and go again shooting for the same twelve reps and so on.....by the last set, with the short rest periods the twelve reps would not be achieved but it sure as hell would have been a very intense session.
