"The Batman" was a very good movie but I'm perplexed by the new Joker.

It seems that they decided to take Heath Ledger's Joker and turn it up a notch.  Darker, even more disfigured, even more cryptic, even more philosophical.  Really?  This is what you came up with?

In my opinion the manlet actor they chose is wrong, but it's more than that.  It looks like some fucked over try-hard shit out of a bad fan film.  Total dog crap.  I fucking hate it.

However......it appears that I am in the minority on this one.  The comments that I've seen are overwhelmingly positive.  People seem to really like it and that is what's shocking to me.  The Fuck?

The new generation is fucked.  Mentally unhinged and more like the Joker than they are decent human beings.

I liked what Heath did but even his portrayal was highly stylized and not particularly accurate to the character as he had been written up to that point.  Jack Nicholson was great but Jack pretty much always plays a version of Jack.  I'm hoping to get back to the actual character of the Joker but that ship has probably sailed.  I'd love to see a Joker that is somewhere in between.......

I was going to reference Nicholson’s Joker being completely different than Ledgers, and to your point Jack was playing Jack.

The hard part for these comic movies is staying true to the character and nature of the comic. I enjoyed this Batman for what it was. I think the Dark Knight series would be impossible to beat BUT this version  wasn’t a complete let down. It stole some elements from Batman Begins and tried to create its own version of Batman. It was not as bad as  I thought it would be.

So you think it's watchable? My girlfriend is trying to get me to watch it with her but it looked like a pile of shit from the clips I saw. I suspect I'll find that Pattinson guy and his 'emo' demeanor quite annoying. I also hated Heath Ledger's Joker and feel like he got an Oscar for dying as opposed to acting.

You don’t understand the timeline here. Batman is in year 2 of his crime fighting days. Still raw and still figuring shit out. Rudimentary costume and gadgets.  The car was spot on. The best version of the bat mobile.  It wasn’t built from the ground up but was an old muscle car supped up which makes more sense. This version of batman goes to the more darker side detective style of Batman.  Not as over the top cartoony shit.  The riddler wasn’t some flamboyant fag with a question mark jacket but some mentally deranged man.  They tried to make this more real and raw.

I liked Pattison as Batman when he was in disguise. Out of the suit, I hated his look and overall physical attributes. I also didn't like his voice.

Crazy as it sounds, a more rugged actor, like a Josh Brolin would be my pick.

I just saw this interview with Director Matt Reeves.  They are trying to make the Joker cerebral like Hannibal Lecter.  Unfortunately, the actor they chose looks like he should be auditioning for an "I am Sam" prequel.

I'm a little over Batman and superhero movies in general although I loved them for a long time. Haven't seen anything of the new film except what's on Youtube. This Joker clip is probably the thing that has interested me the most.

I'm not sure how they'd pull it off though. If he's supposed to be insane (and a genius?) then I think this short clip does a great job catching that.

But I can't see how you'd sustain a characterisation like this over the course of a whole film. It'd just be some dude laughing like a retard for 2 hours, which wouldn't work. Make him cerebral and you might not see how twisted he is.

Brolin is too short, or more accurately his physical proportions are similar to a midgets. Short legs and long torso.

Henry Cavill would have been a great batman, but he's already been superman.

How many people do you think died from the flood? It looked vicious.  Possibly thousands.   That would make the riddler the deadliest of characters. 

As for the joker being more like Hannibal. I can see he. He is very cerebral but also insane.   He is also physically imposing. He can take hits from Batman and still remain standing.

I didn’t like the woke black mayor who stood her ground and wouldn’t leave.  Total bullshit. Tell any black woman that there is a slight chance their hair could get wet and they’d be gone in an instant.

This is also due to the woke Oscar movement.  They won’t nominate any movie that doesn’t give ample screen time to colored folk.
