As an older competitor thinking about getting back into the game, I have attended several shows lately to see what the Masters guys look like locally. Yesterday a 57 year old came out on stage in Board Shorts and it just kind of looked stupid to me. I know that standard posing trunks can be considered less than modest on an older physique, but count me in to being more comfortable in posing trunks rather than looking like a teen surfer wannabe. But maybe it’s just me.

I was a teen surfer and grew up in surfer shorts, but I worked too hard on my legs not to show them off, so I agree with you.

I think it depends on the color. Board shorts are fine, but you don't want to look like a hype beast with loud colors or crazy patterns.

Disagree. For those are delusional regarding what they are looking at in the mirror, you are correct. But there are major exceptions. This one is not me, but take a look at this 70 year old.

Thanks, my point is he would look ridiculous on stage in surfer shorts with that impressive physique. Although in his case, he might get away with it.
