I have mentioned before I herniated a disc a decade ago snowboarding I did a lot of yoga when I first got to Maui which seemed to help bet yeah a decade later and half a dozen high speed racing car wrecks and my lower back gets stiff. One reason I have a pool hot tub, sauna and oxy prescription.

Sounds like our friend ESFitness....to do all the shit he claims, he would have had to have lived 5 lives.

I don't know what to tell you I am 44 years old and have been very active my entire life lifting, wrestling, snowboarding, wrecking cars, etc, etc in addition my BMI is 31.3 as such yeah I have some lower back problems it's not really that far fetched. I bought an adj bed hoping it would help I also went in a cold pool and hot tub today and stretch it regularly. But you can only do so much sometimes you just need an extra rest day or two

An adjustable bed is essentially a cocoon. I’d invest in a food tray and never leave unless it was to the gym. Invest in a good bed pan as well to conserve calorie expenditure. The maid should be able to handle it.

Why walk when you can stand, why stand when you can lay, why lay when you can adjust, why just adjust when you can adjust and cocoon?

I suggest using a foam roller.

So it may be a gimmick but I just got one of those adjustable beds.  Our feet and heads can go up and down but also much more technical mattress. Makes me wonder if some of our aches and pains may be from bad mattresses.

Does anyone else have an adj bed?

Awhile back I replaced my king sized mattress and box springs  with a queen 'natural' mattress from Room and Board that is a hybrid with a coil spring core and organic latex with a layer of New Zealand wool that regulates temperature adds softness all wrapped up in a cotton cover. https://www.roomandboard.com/catalog/bedroom/mattresses/natural-mattress

I also bought an adjustable base, which has a zero gravity feature I use when my back is out. Not waking up in the morning with a backache is a blessing.

Because I went from a king to a queen sized mattress, I also got a new bedstead. None of this was cheap, but it was definitely worth the expense. -Never slept better in my life.

This setup sits on a Dia 8' X 10' hand woven gray wool rug.

The photo is of this setup in my bedroom. Nothing on the walls because I want to paint them first. The Pendleton blanket is also from Room and Board. To finish it off I bought linen sheets and 100% down pillows. The down pillows are great. Although the linen sheets are soft, they are always wrinkled and I am not into ironing my sheets. LOL.

How do you go from king to queen? I’m looking to put two kings together.

Also my last two mattresses for 5k each and they both don’t help my back at all. I used to spend 1500ish on a mattress then jumped up to 5500 and this last one was 4800 I think and my back sucks and I don’t sleep for shit.

My wife and I had various brands of king size beds over the years. She passed in 2015 and so seemed like it was about time for me to get a bed just for me. A twin bed is too narrow and short. A full bed would be fine widthwise but too short. My bedroom is 14' X 15' which is plenty of room for either a king or a queen bed. King beds are a pain to make IMO. I can't stand an unmade bed so the first thing I do in the morning is make the bed. The queen is much easier and faster to make.

After multiple bed purchases over the years, I've concluded the price does not determine the comfort or back support. All mattresses breakdown in time. The Mattress from Room and Board is the top of their line model. This mattress in all latex is more expensive and you can flip it. Supposedly natural latex rubber doesn't sleep hot like man made foam does, but I have always had a spring core, so I stayed with that.

My daughter and son-in-law bought a king size Sleep Number mattress and base. Both have back problems. They claim this is the best bed they've ever had and no morning backaches. With the king each side can be adjusted separately which is great for a shared bed if one likes a softer bed than the other. King Sleep Number beds range in price anywhere from a couple of thousand to over $5 K.

One thing about an adjustable base with zero-gravity is that it mainly works for sleeping on your back. If you've ever owned a recliner, zero gravity bed is like the reclined position the chair. Some say it is the healthiest way to sleep.

Bad back or bed?

Maybe both.

Go to a bed/matress shop and lay down on different matresses. Buy the one that gives you instant relief the moment you lay down.

For me super soft foam ones are a must. Otherwise i get numb hands.

Interesting way to select a mattress for back problems. I would have thought that what felt comfortable in the store would be too soft to support your back for 8 or so hours of sleep.

While I was having the hardwood floors installed in the downstairs bedrooms, I slept on the living room sofa. I expected it to not be comfortable although it has spring/foam and feather cushions which give you varying levels of support; spring for firmness, foam for a little softness and feathers for the feather bed feeling. I got very restful sleep on it as compared to the king-size bed in the bedroom. This is when I realized it was time for a new mattress in my bedroom.

The key is to buy a waterbed, but then fill it with oil.
