Who here goes to actual shows?

I used to compete, but have just judged and been a trainer and fan over the last decade.
I get the impression that while many folks here do some form of training and like bodybuilding, VERY few seem to go to ACTUAL shows , even as a fan...I think this explains "it" :o

 I actually live in Columbus, Ohio but have been to only one show, the 2001 Arnold Schwarzenegger Classic. We were seated pretty far away and could barely see the bodybuilders. We had to look over at the screen. You can see the bodybuilders closer at the Expo and pay $10, as opposed to the $50 tickets to the show. I don't think I'll ever go to another show.

I normally get to 3/4 pro shows a year...and whatever little scrubby amateur things that are convenient.

I attend the East Coast shows when my schedule permits. I know the athletes look 100% larger and more impressive in person, but I don't really feel the need to experience everything firsthand. I'm content with the internet and magazine coverage w/ pictures, although I try my best to make it to the Night Of Champions. Sadly, the main incentive is an excuse to spend 3-4 days in the city, rather than to see the athletes in person. If I had known better, I would have made every effort to see the 2003 Mr. Olympia live. Ronnie Coleman was so perfect that night.

Olympia, since Im west coast.  Almost went to Ironman this year, but something came up.
Think i might go to shawns show.

Expo's are where all the fun is!!

Back in the mid to late 90's I went to a shitload. Around 2000 is where the sport lost me, I have zero interest in watching these 260lb. oafs attempting to pose.

i went to the local grand prix of new zealand a few years back, it was quite a good line up ronnie took it out and chris cormier came second. there hasnt been a pro show in nz since because there were about 12 spectators and the promoter wasnt exactly pleased with that

I use to go to all the southern California shows, NPC and other orgs.  But I'm going to fewer and fewer because of the ticket prices and the restrictions on cameras.
