The last time I saw her was in 2005. She was the featured speaker at the Florida Parent-Educators Association conference, which is for homeschool families.
Whechel was homeschooled during her time on the set of "The Facts of Life". And she homeschooled her kids as well.

She is an evangelical Christian at last check. She even testified (and this was verified during a documentary about her hit show) that she refused the role where her character, Blair, was supposed to be the first of the girls to lose her virginity to her boyfriend. After much argument with Whechel's parents and the execs, the decision was made to switch that role in the series to the character, Natalie (portrayed by Mindy Cohen).
