Something about Matt's dead lift form doesn't seem right. A little too much arching in the back.
Matt doesn't keep his wrists bent through out the whole lift. When I tried it the process of allowing the wrist to bend at the bottom of the movement and then straightening it took some the tension and load off of the shoulders. It felt like you could more reps this way.It's kinda like bouncing the bar off your chest during benching, but the "bounce" effect is achieved with your bending and straightening of the wrists. Again it's amazing his wrists can handle this kinda stress.
