I watched a video where they discussed this and the host said travelers weren't getting off the boats and chasing down Afrikaans to steal, they were trading the tribes for their slaves that they captured from other competing tribes. Got into the slave trade of Europe and white Europeans and into the middle east. It was interesting to watch and should be taught on school, might change a lot of perception about slavery.

Yeah the whole "white people stole Afrikaans from the motherland" is bullshit. There's a video with that gay black guy(Lemon?) where he says that white people should pay reparations and the white chick he's talking to agrees and runs him back to the provider of slaves, their own people and rival tribes. ;D
