Ouch!!! Never broke or fractured a rib, but I've heard it is extremely painful. The healing process takes around 6 weeks. Don't do anything that might compromise it.

I went to  my buddys house to buy eggs.......my driveway was glare ice due to the 15 inches of snow we had....I`m carrying 8 dozen eggs,then decided to cross the street to check my mailbox.....as I was coming back down the drive ....WHAMO...on my ass ...my head hit really hard sounded like my vertabrae right under my skull cracked......got up reeeal fucking  slow..... went inside wracked with pain....DID NOT BREAK ONE SINGLE EGG WHICH WAS THE MOST IMPORTANT PART DUE TO THE PROTEIN CONTENT.

Doc also said I  had Calcium deposits in my neck and arthritis in my neck plus one paltry broken rib...........PFFFFTTTT.  :D

I saved the eggs though.  :D

Get well soon man, a broken rib hurts like a motherfucker. Years ago I suffered a fractured rib and for 1-2 months it sucked so bad. The worst of it is if it was a rib high enough on your rib cage and then every time you breathe in it stings.

The best thing I can tell you is that typically after about 2-3 weeks, every week from that point gets easier and easier (less pain from week to week).
