I hate watching movies/TV

And when they’re in a foreign country they make the people speak English with an accent from that country. I’m watching Jack Ryan and I can suspend disbelief on all the other crap, but it bugs me that they have Russians talking to each other in English with a Russian accent. I’d rather read subtitles. Does anyone else find this bothersome?

I’m about to switch this crap off and watch a Christmas movie with the fam, like Die Hard or something…

I have a suggestion for you though.

You can turn off the sound and pretend you re deaf.

Then you can use subtitles or learn to read lips.

Most of the shite on Netflix and other channels is some foreign horseshit.
And the dubbing is just plain awful...

I don’t like the dubbing to English. It looks very odd—it’s like the speech never matches their lips.

I’d rather just watch it in its original language and read the English subtitles.

Subtitle reader here too. Most dubs are bad, but the ones on current tv, especially Netflix, are horridly bad. They don't even try.

Yeah 1899 was terrible. I turned the over dub off so they spoke their original language and it looked better, also a bit weird because they’re speaking different languages and you realize they don’t always understand each other.


As far as the original post goes, I just hate it when they just don’t speak their native tongue. Enemy At The Gates is another. A bunch of Russian accents in English. Just hire Russian actors and do the subtitle.

I remember watching Bruce Lee DVDs 20 years ago with my mates and they wanted to watch it in english and I was like this sucks. Would rather read subtitles than hear some random kunt trying to sound like Bruce Lee (or whoever else) in english. English dubbing always sucks. The lip synching thing as you also mentioned is fucking annoying too.
