Mainstream Synthol Usage 2001

When we hear everybody complaining about conditions now, just remind yourself of what was tolerated on stage 20 years ago or so. Go to about 4:00 minutes into this video of Taylor, and observe those oil appendages on Ernie in 2001:

Earliest Synthol post I can find on Misc.Fitness.Weights (one of the earliest bodybuilding groups still online) is from Nov 1996 -

"I must admit that when I first heard about Synthol I was a little sceptical to say the least, but now I have seen the results. A friend has recently taken his arms from 20" to 21"'s in a period of 10 days.

The stuff needs to be injected daily directly into the muscle using a 22 gauge 1 and a half inch pin. He started using only 1ml a day per arm but increased the amount by another ml each day. He says his arms still feel 'normal' and he has observed no lack of fuctionality. He also says his bi's feel harder than ever and the sudden increase in size and subsequent skin tightness makes them look awsome.

The cost of this product is high and the potential problems are unknown for this reason I'd be interested in hearing from anyone else who has any experience with using this product."

It was met with discussions on whether it would be better to go Ferrigno style with Silicon.

Just wanted to let the group know the answer to the question I get Emailed all the time--about Synthol (injectable oil-which has the effect of 2-3 inches on a bodypart in only 3 weeks or so) and it is supposed to andapparently does last from 3-5 years. Be careful if you get your hands on this stuff--many in Europe are using or have used it with no health hazards but you never know!!! this stuff works and it is going to revolutionize bodybuilding (I dont beleive in a good sense either)

Alot of pros and amateurs are just now getting their hands on the stuff--and just think how these daredevil and freaks are going to look with 3 inches or so on --bi's, tri's delts, calves. It can only be used in the USA as posing oil(wink, wink)-but I have heard from 5 guys who have used it and all are fanatic about it. Manfred Hoerbl--how come when your arm is straight the bicep still looks SO FULL AND FLEXED, and the Tricep is just enormous?!?!?!

ive seen the before shots and there is just no way!!! hmmmmmmmmm--could it be synthrol?LOL. Ask the guys from England from Chemical Warfare what they think about synthol (web page) Pauls up from 19 and a half inches to 21 and a half in 3 weeks, and Kerry went from 17 1/2 to 19 1/2 in 3 also. There should be 2-3 guys in the U.S. carrying the Synthol in the next couple months-but the only guy that I know now who has it is James from Labtec--1800-368-0729.

Synthol comes 100ml for 600 bucks-(ouch) but I guess 2-3 inches on your arms ina couple weeks sure beats the 5 years it would take otherwise. Like I said this stuff is sketchy-I would think you would have to be very careful-and though I heard it is starting to run rampant in Europe and there are no horror stories or problems-I would think asphyxiating so you dont go into a vein is very important. Like I said-it can only be used as a posing oil over here in the U.S.--James said anyone who calls him and says-Hardcore Muscle sent themgets a hundred bucks off-so it would only be 500 dollars.

Im not so sure if this product is completely problem free but Chris Clark-the manufacturer has told me he hasnt seen a problem yet. Be careful--this stuff is hitting the U.S. this year and the pros will no doubt go overboard with it. Jesus what happened to the Weider Principles for gains?!?!?!?!?!?!

At least he wasn’t all show.. he was definitely impressive at the Worlds Strongest Man competition. But the “I need to have the biggest arms in the world” mentality was quite odd. Most of the men in the Worlds Strongest Man competition didn’t think like that. Maybe Hoeberl was insecure.

Yeah I read up his bio soon as BB posted that usenet info as tbh I wasn't even aware of the guy and it looks like he had a bad run of luck. Found one picture of him where he looks small and therefore useless to us, now. Stopped doing weight training after a series of car wrecks.

I think for mainstream bodybuilding use, late 96 is it. Tommy's post about Hoeberl made me check MFW for some more stuff. In Summer of 96, it was still thought that he was doing something with silicon. Writers and gym goers in the US and Europe were still secretly checking his biceps for scars, etc.... at shows and at the gym.

The most common thing they thought it was, was micro injections of silicone in the muscle, which was something Bruce Nadler was pushing at the time. Nadler would later kill himself and his wife a little while after his surgical career went south.

Esiclene was a water based steroid that caused a ton of inflammation from lymphatic fluid build up . The volume of shots probably has something to do with it too. All of the stuff I remember people doing at the time were micro doses and 40-100 shots.

I'll keep quiet now, as I have no real experience with it.

Pretty much spot on.  Esiclene was never cost effective.

As mentioned- lots of solution was required and lots of injections… and lots of money. Did guys use it? Oh ya. But nobody loved it- except perhaps Kevin L.
