I voted "was innocent" for two reasons:
[1] My preferred poll option would have been "I don't know / Unsure", but that option wasn't available.
[2] Even though there is a lot of speculation and anecdotal evidence, this matter hit the legal world twice - once around 1993 which was settled out of court, and once again in 2004 when Michael Jackson was found Not Guilty.
Macauley Culkin [in the video above] was right about this point: if someone sexually abused your child, would you settle for some money? I'd want that person to go to jail.
And when the second matter actually did go to court, Jackson's guilt was not proven beyond a reasonable doubt. That's not an insignificant outcome.
One thing I heard in the news at the time is that if Jackson was truly guilty both times, he would have continued this pattern in the years between 1993 and 2004, because pedophiles don't just take decade-long breaks like that. So the implications there are very bad, if Jackson truly was guilty those two times.
It's important that we stand for fair trials for EVERYONE. Take that away, and we have dictatorship. But sometimes the court of public opinion is onto something, and Jackson having multiple accusers is suspicious to me.
So I can't be certain of Jackson's innocence...but I can't be certain of his guilt either. So I'm in the "Unsure/Undecided category if there was one - but I take insinuations of guilt very seriously, which is why I voted "was innocent".
