Hey, Matt-

Do you think Vice went bankrupt because they went "woke"? Or do you think it was because they achieved their sky-high valuation during a hyper-irrational market and they were considered over-valued even then?

Is pandering to conservatives a better business strategy? Fox and Alex Jones just lost two of the largest defamation cases in US history for peddling right-wing conspiracy theories. Jones filed for bankruptcy, Fox has possibly three more similar lawsuits coming up. Is peddling conservatard boogie man stories a better financial strategy?

Al Doggity,

Now that you KNOW there was never a "lethal pandemic", why do you defend the lying sacks of shit who misled you?

Not only did I STOP WATCHING Fox News in 2003 over the Iraq War / Saddam Hussein lies - I quit the Army over that war. I couldn't stand being a soldier of George W. Bush Jr. by way of being an ally.

Then in September of 2007, due to the lies of Jon Stuart Leibowitz ["Jon Stewart"], I abandoned ALL mainstream/Jewish media.

Since then, I go to the internet, comments' sections, and PRIMARY SOURCES for everything.

Clearly not as many people as I had hoped actually do that, as we managed to close down the world economy over a guy weak sauce virus. And you KNOW that's the truth, Al Doggity. 🐶

Now, to answer your question specifically:

I do think "conservative" media has a much larger audience.

But keep in mind that in Canada, the definitions have changed. A 2010 Canadian Liberal Party voter would be a Progressive Conservative Party voter today...as Justin Trudeau has taken the party as close to Marxism as he has been legally able to since 2015.

So i do think "right-wing" media [which includes some formally Democratic views] is the way to go.

Keep in mind:
Tucker Carlson had something like TWICE the viewers of the top two liberal news shows COMBINED.

Also Al Doggity 🐶 - just to be clear here:

The stuff I'm talking about that media outlets should avoid is garbage like media outlets saying women can have penises, and stuff like that.

THAT stuff is just not selling.

And regardless of ideological stripe, lying is never good.

I do find it weird that we can now sue for defamation for "conspiracy theories". I thought the first amendment protected even lying about historical events, but I guess that's not true anymore.

But lying is bad. That includes lying and saying women can have penises.

The only good thing about Vice are the wrestling documentaries and It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia marathons.

I guess your understanding of the constitution is on par with your understanding of statistics and all other world events. It has always been possible to sue for defamation in the US. It's not a new development. Even a Canadian (especially one who claims to be well-informed) should understand the difference between free speech and slander.

So,  you're basing your belief that conservative media has a much larger audience on Fox News ratings? Even conservatives on here admit that FNC's dominance is because its target demo  is old people who probably don't know how to use their smart phones. Which explains why so many conservative new media projects keep flopping. Truth Social, Parler, I just read that rumble's stock price collapsed after the number of users nosedived from last quarter. Prager U is kept afloat by donations, from what I understand.

Matt, from your research, which has killed more people: pornography or covid19?  Which do you think could have prevented Vice media from declaring bankruptcy: a stronger economy, a stronger ad market, a stronger business model, a stronger stance against chicks with dicks?

.

Long, but reasonable look at Vice and its end through the eyes of one of its founders. I think he's right with the valuation he gave it (around $100 million). It was bought around one of the times that old media was throwing money at anything that was considered young and hip, and they got schmoozed.

From a viewer's perspective, I can tell you it was also at a time where it seemed like Vice was going through growing pains. They were turning out content at a much faster pace, and it just wasn't as good. That first 5-8 years on youtube was pretty great though.

Regarding lawsuits for defamation...I get that it's possible to sue media companies, but the lawsuits seem selective to me.

What media companies don't lie?

Covid has maybe killed 10% of the stated numbers claimed...if that. Pornography doesn't kill anyone directly that I can tell - it's just a disgusting medium, IMO.

What could VICE have done to avoid bankruptcy?

Probably nothing.

I don't imagine success in media is easy.

However, articles about pregnant men just accelerated their demise, IMO. I mean...what did they think would happen pushing garbage like that?

Vice survived so long from rich liberal donors. They never pulled a profit.
