« on: May 19, 2023, 10:47:14 PM »

Always fought anyone at times having to travel on 2-3 days notice.

if you`re a boxing fan,do yourself a favor and watch his fight with "Irish" Mickey Ward on YT..........a veritable fucking war!

Watched that fight live on FNF on ESPN. Incredible. I sure hope Loma has one more great performance left and wins tomorrow night.

I was at that fight in Hampton. Used to go to all the good local fights back in those days.
Brutal...
Saw Ward fight a few times in person, also Irish Steve Collins, etc.

Great times...

Me too. I really hope Loma gives him the beating of a lifetime. I worry about Loma's lack of physicality when he goes up against naturally bigger guys, and Haney will likely look to spoil and box ugly on the outside, but if Loma can close the distance and work angles, I reckon he can take this.

Guy was such a good boxer. He had a lot of close decisions go against him and people mistakenly thought he was tomato can. He fought an absolute war with Mickey Ward and thrashed quite a few undefeated prospects. He was both tough and slick.

Later in life the poor bastard had nothing and was coming home one wintry night on a bus from the boxing gym,and some dickhead shot him in the head for no reason.

If he had good management and didn`t fight 87 times a month on 2-3 days noticed,IMO,he would have been a force to be  reckoned with.

IIRC,Roger Mayweather did train him for a short while.

One of my favorite fighters. He had this unique drunken boxing style. He would dance, even spin in a full circle and have the refs pissed at him. He just didn't have natural power, his main weakness. Style points A+.

Glad I stayed up for this one. I can already sense some bias in how this is being scored. Loma is looking good; they better not screw him. Also really hoping Haney's dad slips on some ice cubes and breaks his neck.

Edit: knew it. Fucking disgrace. Boxing is dead.

LOMA won some rounds BIG but without a knockdown it's still just a 10-9 rd. I knew Haney would get the decision whether he deserved it or not. I guess you can make the case Haney deserved to win but ALL 3 officials score it by unanimous decision and o e scored it 8 rds to 4? Boxing is just about dead to me. Im still pissed at Tony Weak ass bitch Weeks. Fuck him and fuck these judges. Why bother having the fights if the outcomes Re so obviously pre determined.

I remember him from the old espn FNF took a lot of fights on short notice, like more than the odd journey man better management and coaching and his career could have turned out far more successful.

Yeah, I can't handle it any more. The sense of injustice sticks with me and pisses me off for the evening; I'm rarely getting any pleasure from it now. I hate the crowds, the influence of hip-hop culture, YouTubers, the corruption, etc. It's a farce. I'll likely see out the current crop of heavyweights and then not give it any more attention.

To my eye, Loma dictated the pace, pressured Haney, used angles, landed more and fought a fantastic, close fight - and as a much smaller guy too. Haney was panicked in the corner and was clearly out-boxed in a number of later rounds. I'd love to drone-strike the judges.

I thought Loma edged it. But it was a 7-5 fight either way. Every single round until the final 3 rounds were hard to score.  Loma clearly won 10 and 11 while Haney clearly won 12. 8-4 sounds bad on paper but it's not corrupt. Rounds were incredibly hard to score. Also, Haney did some brutal body work and only an animal like Loma could have taken them. This may have been a fight where being there in the judges seat allows you to hear the harder, more damaging shots better than we can on TV. Great fight. Fair score. Devin was classy afterwards.

Devin ain't fighting Shakur. Tank ain't fighting Shakur. Loma would fight him but what's the point for Shakur at this point?

Shakur isn't going to lose until he gets to 147. Even there, who's it gonna be? Boots Ennis perhaps?

Abe, I know who you are and what you're capable of. You can ask anyone who knows me - I'd never step out of line, but I must respectfully disagree! Haney put in some good work to the body but it didn't have the effect of slowing Loma down. He was constantly getting nailed with the left hand and some great body shots too. I just can't see how anyone could have had Haney winning this; a draw I could maybe just about tolerate. I really hope Shakur does fight Haney now so he can put a beating on him.

Two good takes.

Abe it's not so much that Haney won. Its that all 3 judges had him winning and though 8-4 might not be egregious judge Dave Moretti scored the 10th for Haney. Which indicates a totally inappropriate score card. The 10th was an obvious Loma rd. Im sure that other rounds that weren't as obvious, but still loma rounds, were shaded for Haney.  Moretti also had Ali's grandson winning his under card fight. Which was a total joke. It wouldn't be so bad if it weren't always so predictable.

Based on the fight, if Loma had won by those same scores, no one would be complaining. Yeah it was close. Yeah it COULD have gone either way but it SHOULD have gone Loma's way.

No doubt, that 10th round scorecard was bad and he should have to answer for it. All 3 judges scoring the fight for Haney just means they saw the same fight. In theory, a judge could have given either guy all of the 1st 9 rounds and it could have been 11-1 Loma or 10-2 Haney. Wouldn't change the fact it was a nip and tuck fight.

Also, the house fighter lost. It would have benefited Bob and Top Rank to have Loma win. Now, Devin is a free agent and can go fight Tank for a lot of $. This fucks Shakur at 135 cuz I don't think Tank or Haney would fight him. Shakur will have to move to 140 and beat Josh Taylor after he beats Teofimo. Al Haymon and the PBC are the worst thing for boxing.
