The focus of most of these interweb docs is metabolic syndrome which is things like blood pressure, cholesterol levels, diabetes, etc.

It's like a car that runs bad because you put bad gas in it or never change the oil and filters.

You get a patient who is obese, close to diabetes type 2 or has high cholesterol and you put them on drugs to manage it instead of discussing diet.

Most docs will tell the patient they need to lose weight, stop eating crap.  But the patients won't do it.

Most people would rather take drugs than stop eating pizza and lots of sugar.

Now, the new weight loss drugs are just another pill to manage obesity instead of changing behaviors.

Changing behavior is hard.

I have noticed this when I am with any of my doctors or physical therapists.  They all say that none of these folks are listening to them and are relying on medicine to do the job they refuse to do. I do not do that and that is perhaps the main reason I am not (yet?) under the knife again. The two physicians that were to operate on my spine and shoulders both told me that I should refuse the surgery and then gave me time to think about it.

I did as they asked and when I had told the I did not want any surgery they said that was good because I had already exceed the other folk that they were working with and on.  Because even when I could not train with weights, I still did as I was asked to do as far as diet and trying to walk.  Even though they have told me that I will never walk "normal" again, I accept that and still work on my hope.

People such as we are here on this forum understand that behavior is something that can be changed for the better and I have used my ego to try to force myself to work at what the doctors say cannot be.  We cannot be who we once were but that doesn't mean  we give in to becoming unrecognizable to the one person  who will never forget and that being us.

That is very interesting it is RX'd for sleep.  Do you have any sort of pain diagnostic or nerve problems (like restless leg syndrome) that was interfering in your sleep?

I know someone that takes it because of the neuro problems that chemo gave her.   She says that the biggest problem she has with it is that she has the brain fog at times and feels very lethargic during the day often.  She's been on it for about a year now.

No physical damage that I'm aware of anyway. But it's like my nervous system is always on 11. At night it's hard to slow my mind down.  Trust me when I say I've tried everything under the sun too.

I take a day or two off of gabapentin every week. If I take 2 or more days off I'll be lucky to get 2 hours sleep. It's miserable.  From what I understand 300 mgs is a pretty mild dose. People take anywhere from 900 mgs to 2100 mgs per day.

Drink whiskey, eat chocolate, jerk off, remember the last dream you had.

I like to eat late and it's my biggest and most carb heavy meal. I naturally want to sleep after a big feed. I stay a little bit hungry all day, big plateful at night.

I have no idea why they tell us we should be stuffed and sluggish all day and go to sleep hungry. It's idiotic.

I think anyone over 65 should avoid viagra. My doc gave me a sample pack.  When I took it my heart was racing disturbingly. It was originally a heart medicine. I thought I was having a heart attack. I just imagined dying with a heart attack with a hard on. Maybe not a bad way to go.

Changing behavior is hard especially for those who never were involved in bodybuilding. I'm very glad I started training and monitoring diet at a young age.

I’m similar to you as I don’t eat a solid meal until 3pm usually and I sleep better when full (belly).

I use to have restless sleep rolling and  falling out of bed. One viagra and I had a kick stand. Problem solved.

Nat, I'm happy you have a level of "wellness" that I don't possess.  I'm glad you don't require a cabinet full of drugs, prescribed,  OTC or otherwise.

You probably have quite a bit of balance and stability in your life.

Over the last decade or two I  have gotten to a point of misery that is very difficult for me to pull myself out of. I can't depend on anyone else to pull me up nor would I trust them if they could or would.

If I get something from a doctor that helps me not-want to curb stomp every other person I meet or makes me not lament the fact that I have to spend 1 more day on a planet populated with vapid, shallow, ignorant,  assholes then I take it. My kids are the only reason I haven't taken any drastic measures. I owe it to them to earn and save money and provide for them. But each day regret grows more about bringing people into this world because I know it's only getting worse and one day I won't be here for them regardless.  The only worse I thought I have is the grief I feel for those that have had to watch one of their children die.

So I don't mind taking a medication or a drug that makes it all just a bit more tolerable.

You are correct.

The majority of people would rather take a pill than change their lifestyle.

I've noticed as my parents get older, the Docs push drugs more than lifestyle changes.

My dad confronted his Doc about it, and he said that nobody ever wants to change their diet/lifestyle anymore, so he just asks if they want to change their way of life or take a pill.

They almost always choose the pill.

Then you have my grandma who is 92 years old, has smoked since she was 14.

Has been taking Celebrex for almost 20 years for joint pain.

People say this should have killed her by now.

Takes 20+ pills a day for over 25 years.

She will be lucky to make 110.

Dam, Beak, I'm sorry to hear you have all that.

Stay strong, bro.

I'm not qualified to offer advices.

Two people I had close relationships with ( a nephew and a work associate) had emotional issues and killed themselves.

Whatever you feel don't do that.  It is not a solution.

One was a manic depressive who had wild swings up and down.
The nephew was depressed over a broken relationship with a  girlfriend among other things.

The world has always been full of problems that are beyond our ability to solve.
At the same time there are wonderful things too.

He took black lotus. Stigyan, the best.

He imbibed a little too.

When all else failed he got high on Crom.
