The first six (Roth) still sells loads.

The Hag era is dated and is quickly eroding from relevant memory. I dig a lot of it, but …

The first six, the REAL Mighty Van Halen, is mandatory in any rock and metal fans’ collection.

Dave is the greatest frontman of all time.

Unfortunately he’s now completely off his rocker.

to be fair van halen is the only band i know of where the original singer left and they had pretty good success with another lead singer.

He did his bass solo (Anesthesia, Pulling Teeth) EPIC...

That song/bass solo blows.

His Rick sound, effects, etc.

But he's no Steve Harris, thats for sure (not many are)..

Its odd to me that they never did much for me (later on). Would crank VH 1 in 1979 when I was 13, after that I got heavier though.
Like, much heavier. early Motorhead, Hatchet, Venom, Mercyful, etc...
VH had too much poppy-fluff for my liking, though I was big on Eddie and Alex's playing...

Bummed I never got to see them in their prime though w/ Roth.

VH live prime Music and sound is three songs off the fair warning tour. There’s three videos hear about it later unchained and so this is love MTV used to play the hell out of those videos there’s sound was unreal then. Alex, his drum sound was cool as hell then He would like the gong on 🔥
