In powerlifting the lifter is required to break parallel to establish a good lift........if he went any lower it would be ass to the grass and totally unnecessary.
For the amount of stress squats might put on your calves,the results would be negligible......direct calf exercises build calves......other things like sprints,running, and walking stress them also, but you are squatting wrong if squats are building your calves.
I won`t even get into deadlifting for calves.
