That's a good question. I think it's a culmination of factors that have reached critical mass.

But ultimately: man or mankind but specifically "man" no longer has a purpose. Hunter gatherer instincts have been completely eliminated as there is no need for them. As well there is no necessity to procreate. In fact there are already too many people (seemingly) and bringing children into the world does not guarantee the survival of your bloodline but more likely ensures that your children will inhabit a world that is much less pleasant than the one we grew up in.

In short man's natural instincts are no longer necessary.  So people occupy their time with pointless endeavors. Their lives only exist online. Their pursuits are only their pleasure. Their interest is only themselves.  People are now inventing problems since their survival is virtually guaranteed.

This "pronoun" thing is the ultimate self-centered, narcissistic conundrum.  It's totally subjective to the person, it defies logic and common sense. But the WRATH it incurs despite  that no actual harm comes of it. The demand to make others submit to your fantasy is inexplicable but it has been legitimized by academics. There is no need whatsoever for this to be an issue yet now mislabeling someone is a Felony in some places!

Without the basic instincts of survival and self preservation,  mankind's priorities are completely out of whack.

A perfect model for ruling over a large crowd of confused people in a dystopian autocratic society is socialism ( Nazism was a form of socialism, I don't care what smartasses think, just look at their centrally-planned and controlled economic system - their so-called market freedom was a sham)

One possible way of imposing it is by sheer force, like they did in the Soviet Union.

Another one consists of slowly implementing a counter-ideological system ( counter Hegemony) that is going to progressively erode our traditional society and its values from whithin. That's where the over-sexualised and victimised crowds step into the game.

This strategy has a name, it's called Gramscian Socialism ( named after Italian marxist Antonio Gramsci.) His ideas really started gaining popularity in the 1960s-1970s.
