I think people are tiring of streaming services for some of the following reasons:

1. Price increases
2. Lack of what they want due to licensing
3. You'll always need internet and a subscription to watch streaming movies.
4. More content and extras on DVDs
5. You'll always own it unlike if you buy a movie on Amazon Prime and for whatever reason they lose the licensing, they'll delete that movie and you no longer own it even if you bought it. (This has happened).
6. Ads creeping into streaming and you have to pay more to opt out.  ::) (fucking assholes)
7. Companies changing/deleting original content because it is now considered "offensive".

Digital was the answer to combating movie piracy. There's total control and Disney, Netflix, Hulu, Paramount, Amazon and the rest make money monthly from your subscriptions
they continue raising the prices on annually.  Firesticks loaded with Kodi had its day but was beat into submission.

While torrenting is still a thing, it's a Gen X and Millineal thing .

Last but not least people are broke and in debt. Having subscriptions to 3-5 streaming services won't cut the mustard.

With the options being limited to streaming, pirating, DVDs or nothing.

Redbox will be bigger, piracy via torrenting and DVDs will be a thing again and in general more DVDs will sell.

I guess we'll see... :)

A few years ago, prior to Covid, the “blu-ray 4k” ultra HD products we’re becoming popular. But that ended abruptly. They were much more expensive than the standard discs.

No, and definitely not DVDs. People who want to own physical media because of licensing issues with streamers typically buy Blu-Rays or 4K discs. It's a small, but lucrative market, but it's not a growing market.

Streamers are not making money. It's basically a survival of the fittest right now. Losers get cannibalized (streamers merge) or they sell their best IPs/TV franchises to the highest bidder.

Eventually you'll have fewer streaming services and they'll just offer different tiers of services. Also instead of paying monthly they'll start offering longer discounted contracts to try get people to stop switching in and out of services.

I hear you but I should be more clear. DVDs/Blue Ray/4K all in the same bucket. Physical media.

I continue to buy CDs and DVDs. Very regularly.

Particularly the former.

Order between two and 10 each week, as a matter of fact.

I ALWAYS have several in the pipeline (mail).

Yesterday I received a Japanese print of an older Vicious Rumors album.

I very much am put off by streaming.

Sounds like someone forgot to cancel their Columbia House Records and Tapes Club subscription from the 80s

That would be nice I have just about every streaming service there is and it’s around 100+ a month plus fucking cable at 230 a month. 330 monthly for tv, craziness.

What was the embarrassing part, that you want to save $100 a month or you spend $330 on entertainment?

Incorrect use of a semicolon.

Did anyone go to school?

I got rid of cable and land line about 10 years ago.

Netflix quality is down but I don't think we'll see a return to cable or DVDs (DVDs?) because of it. Hopefully more streaming competitors will step up and become more popular and through competition quality will improve.

At least it wasn't a dangling participle.

I actually do not know what that means. I heard
Dean Martin say it on the tonight show and he received
a ton of laughs.

Nope. Just another case of wishful thinking of "I want to go back to the good old days." Not going to happen.
