CNN’s Abby Phillip just spread a flat out lie by saying coming into the country illegally is only a civil offense.
That’s false.
Illegal entry is a federal crime under 8 U.S.C. § 1325. First time illegal entry is a criminal offense punishable by jail time and fines.
Either she doesn’t know basic immigration law or she’s deliberately misleading viewers to minimize the border crisis.

When someone overstays a visa, this is a civil violation of immigration law, (civil offense.) Furthermore, most enforcement actions result in civil deportation rather than criminal prosecution.
Anyone who has ever watched News Night knows that there is a lot of misspeaking (bullshit) going on during this hour-long political argument fest and should not take most of what is said seriously.
Personally, I am too busy cracking up over Scott Jennings's ridiculously funny and fake body language to pay much attention to the comments.
Mostly, News Night with Abby Philip is an annoying show unless you enjoy people rudely talking over one another.
It occurs to me that ‘Coach is back’ would enjoy being on this show because he is often looking to set up a debate.
Where is Coach? He has not posted since November which is very unusual for him. I hope he is okay.
