Most college kids are lazy assholes. They live in a bubble where everybody around them is educated, and they live off of the system and think because they attend classes everyday they are accomplishing something. Living with roommates and asking things like “hey man I’m low on funds, can you swipe for me at the lunch hall today?” I know because that’s what I was like. Took me about two years of being out of school when I bought my first place and had to pay taxes and drove past some section 8 housing and thought to myself “these folks have a similar quality of life to mine, and don’t do shit to earn it.” A real “aha” moment for me.

This is a misconception. Loan forgiveness is about forgiving excess interest not principal. These people have already paid back what was borrowed and then some.

What does this do for the banks/businesses that rely on this interest to make money? Do they default to their backers as well? Wouldn’t you think that would be catastrophic for the economy? I’d say those with the loans they took out, should pay them. They agreed to it. I have no problem however with the cost of borrowing on new loans and tuition going down. Those who have past debt, can just consider themselves unlucky and we move on.
