Yeah, I'm not arguing against the point. I'm just highlighting some examples. I've always felt that those kinds of interactions make for the most interesting conversations. When the interviewer and guest share the same ideological views it turns into more of a cheerleading session than real thinking or persuasion. I'd never agree with Bernie or Mamdani on policy, but they both handle tough questioning well. Some of those old Buckley vs guest exchanges are still incredibly memorable.
I don’t think AOC would do well in that kind of environment. You mentioned Ben Shapiro. I'm not a fan of Newsom’s policies, but he actually hosted Shapiro on his show, which I found interesting. It’s not the same as Newsom going on Shapiro’s show, but it was a solid exchange.
