The Pride parades have always been a spectacle.  While I disagree with what they're doing in public, it's been going on so long that most parents know what to expect and can can avoid that day if they want to.

My biggest issue is the forced corporate compliance, or the fact that corporations at least feel there will be ramifications if they don't explicitly hold some event around it.

I think i wrote about it before but i cought two female soldiers doing the deeds..all i said was , "just don´t get cought"  was a serious offence back then.. it actually payed dividends for me because one of them had a car & anywhere i wanted to go she drove me.
I never spoke about the encounter to her but she & her "Girls" ( was a few of them) just accepted i was OK i suppose...

I don't know. It's not something I pay attention to and if an event were running in my city, I sure as fuck would be avoiding it. I'm just not bothered by the fact that they want to have a silly parade. It hardly takes the wisdom of Herodotus to know that gays have faced significant persecution throughout history, and a lot of great people were brutalized by church and state.

Do most Western societies still wield that power? No, I don't think so, but we should not forget what life was like when they did, and we should recognize that every bit of progress we've made with regards to rights was through hard-fought battles that literally cost people their lives. If people want to march for that reason, I don't really mind.

It’s a “free country” for corporations too, they can support whatever they want. They need to be consistent though. I know gay people who won’t shop at Hobby Lobby because of Hobby Lobby’s expressed Christian belief that homosexuality is a sin. Well, okay but they have said that all along. Ben and Jerry’s, on the other hand, has always, always been into leftist causes.

The problem is companies like Target. First we are THIS but, as soon as the wind blows the other way, now we are THAT. Big problem, people can see right through that.

I more or less agree that “celebrating degeneracy” is problematic, even offensive. More: while many (most?) people, gay or straight, have kinks and should not be ashamed with consenting adults, this is a very private thing in my book, and should not be public.
