I don't agree with everything he's ever said (I wouldn't want to meet anyone who I did either!) but he was a free speech champ and would debate anyone, which is no doubt what scared his opponents so much - they're used to an unopposed narrative. Fuck I hope the talk that he is rip is not accurate.
It's not my intention to shit on the poor guy; may he RIP. But just showing that the "I will debate anyone" claim might not always be completely true. You could claim that no one has to debate "trolls" and so on, but others may think calling someone a troll is a cop-out due to fear of associating with a person who is too toxic and some may get the impression you are legitimizing the "wrong ideas" just by giving them a platform; see for example the recent examples of Tucker Carlson interviewing people like Candace Owens, Dave Collum, Darryl Copper for example; this is totally beyond the pale and legitimizing dangerous ideas. Or it may be that not debating certain people is simply too hard or would expose certain weak sports in their arguments; this everyone has to decide for themselves

For those who don't know, Nick Fuentes is the guy who Kanye West brought along with him to a lunch with Trump and this was seen as terrible look for Trump. I think Fuentes is interesting but he's too toxic for a guy like Tucker for the time being
