Agreed. In this case, the move came after the FCC chair Brendan Carr indicated ABCs broadcast license would be at risk over Kimmel comments. Clearly a case of government interference, and it’s highly unamerican and unconstitutional. Im glad to see other getbiggers like Wiggs and Dave D recognizing this tyranny for what it is.

Nexstar is currently seeking to acquire Tegna in a $6.2 billion merger that would combine two of the largest local television broadcasters in the United States. The deal, announced in August 2025, would give the combined company control of 265 stations in 44 states, potentially reaching around 80% of U.S. households—well above the FCC’s national ownership cap of 39%. For the merger to proceed, Nexstar would require either a waiver from the FCC or a regulatory change to ownership limits.
The FCC is not using a stick, it's using a carrot. It's saying we'll approve this merger that will give you 80 percent market share if you refuse to show the Kimmel show. Nexstar was more than happy to help.
The FCC only affects the broadcasting (over radio waver) of four channels. Unless you're using rabbit ear antennas, or have an antenna on the roof, the FCC has nothing to do with it.
If the FCC pulled the license, ABC could easily just become a cable channel.
In 2025 broadcast television does not matter. How many people are actually tuning in at 11:30 on broadcast television (using an antenna) to watch Kimmel? We might as well be talking about buggy whips.
