I would say the most likely scenario is that he has contacted Ronneth in private and applied his not inconsiderable negative charm to talk himself into oblivion.

It could also imply that he has used his knowledge gained in the 2-4 hours he spent at the law degree orientation mixer to render a savage legal sallyforth in Rons direction, to which again, oblivion beckoned.
