What are your thoughts on creating an "Oldies Music Appreciation" Board?

Dear NaturalWonder,

How are you? I am fine. This was a great idea for a thread. I would like to contribute with some classic Bob Seger:

As a child, I always thought he said 'working for penis' as opposed to 'working for peanuts.'

Oh, well. I suppose I've got to go now. Talk soon.

Regards,

Spunker.

P.S. I hope Ron gets back to you with his thoughts and is not too mad if he doesn't like oldies.

Dear NaturalWonder,

For my next choice, I would like to present you with a fantastic rendition of Cat Stevens' Trouble. I love the original, but Vedder's cover might be more widely appreciated, and it takes me back to my formative years when music held a much more central place in my life.

I do hope this counts as an oldie. Let me know if it's not appropriate.

With a firm handshake,

Spunker

Dear NaturalWonder,

Permit me to begin this with a toast: to diversity in music. So often in these divisive times, we are pressured to align ourselves with particular genres, as if our appreciation of a band or artist serves as an indication of a broader worldview. Personally, I find this galling. To celebrate musical diversity is to resist the tyranny of tribalism, and this morning I would like to present you with Ernestine Anderson's Moonlight in Vermont:

Now, I know what you're thinking: 'why didn't this stupid asshole post Ella Fitzgerald and Louis Armstrong's version?'

It is your right to ponder that, and my reasoning might surprise you. The truth is, I find Louis Armstrong's face to be unnerving. Behind that seemingly benign smile, I've always sensed the quiet menace of a sex attacker at work, no doubt plotting his next crime.

You might, however, be relieved to know that there is no basis whatsoever for me to claim that. Indeed, a cursory Google search only seemed to infer a harmful prejudice to my thinking (which I vehemently deny). Still, there is just something about that face:

Wishing you a blessed morning,

Spunker

Dear friends,

Today I would like to share with you Quiet Riot's 'Cum On Feel The Noize.'

It is in one of my Spotify playlists and it takes me back to a time in my early 20s when a friend's mother would frequently text me, ostensibly to enquire about his wellbeing. She would always write 'come' as 'cum' (e.g. I could cum over  :o), and I cannot help but assume that this was less of an innocent (albeit illiterate) check-in and more of an attempt to get me turned on enough to stuff her like a Christmas goose. It is a regret of mine that I had a girlfriend at the time and never bothered to investigate further.

Anyway, you might be as surprised as I was to discover that this was not an original, but a cover of the song by the English rock-group Slade. What amazes me is how similar their voices are. I would have bet money it was the same person.
