It was a stupid case and typical of partisan activists and religious lunatics. Her job as a clerk meant that her name would be on marriage licenses. She decided that she can ignore that because she claims it goes against her religious beliefs. Kentucky even passed a law because of her that removed the requirement for the county clerk's name and signature to appear on marriage license forms. I think there was too much leeway given to this religious nut. Keep in mind, she was an elected official not just an ordinary state or county employee.
Regardless, she's currently on the hook for $360k. Maybe she should attend more of those prosperity gospel clowns, they claim if you donate $10,000 to them, god will return it to you a hundredfold!
