I love going Jamaica. I did a bit of time over there but love the country. Its amazing. But I wouldnt travel there unless I was 100% on where i was going. last time I went I bumped into 2 brit girl backpackers. i was going from Ocho Rios to Port Antonio- they have a street party in a place called drapers and fishermans cove which is no numerous james bond films is there. Absolute heaven.
I got a bus called the knutsford express. Cost of 28 US for 3 hours air con etc etc. As i was advised never take a big backpack take a small case with you which I did. These 2 girls were going to get the bus. Instead a 'loca' befriended them and offered to give them a lift for the cost of petrol. They went with him despite me telling them not to. But he was a rasta and talking about weed so therefore a nice man. He drove them into 'country' one got away the other got raped and then was given a 'job' in a bar as a brass under fear of death. her family found her 2 years later on the street in Portmore as a crack addict.
My ex girlfirend was in with a group called the shower posse over there. Different level of violence. i was taken care of BUT carrying of uZI's and glocks in plain sight was standard. One of the local dons kidnapped a rival and used to play football with his head in the street. The brochures dont show you this.
I still love it as a country but its because I have people over there. But Sandals doesnt show you that. When last over there i was having a drink on a bar just off sam sharpes square in montego bay. On the square you are ok. South of it you arent. We saw 3 americans with nikon cameras etc. They were told not to go south. One of them said he was from such and such a place and they werent scared. 15 minutes later they returned in their underwear. The man from such and such a place, USA had been pistol whipped. Everything they had gone.
My ex is from DRC. When we split her sister tried to extort money off me to see my kids under threat of they would be taken to congo and sold. I got the heaviest fuckers I knew on stand by- 2 ex special forces. Told them. They said if they get there you will need an army to get them back. A former SAS mate just refused outright as he said theyd be dead within an hour of landing.
Again you dont see this on the wildlife documentaries or the holiday programmes! We are so cossetted thank fuck in the West.
