From 1970 to 1973, there really was a Mr. Fire Island contest.  One of the promoters was the American Director of the IFBB.  Rick Wayne won the 1970 contest.  Harold Poole won the 1973 contest, at which Lou Ferrigno guest posed.

First time at the Palms Hotel, it was ok.   Meet the Olympians Thursday night was too small, they were all over, from outside by the pool, which was a little humid and hot, to upstairs in the grand ballroom, which was cooler, but needed an elevator to get up there.  Getting into the event Thursday night was harder, long lines, security checks which I understand, but that is the norm these days

Of course.  Elevators, escalators. ballrooms, parties, events, expos, meeting rooms - this is my 27th year at an Olympia.   Met with the vendors of Ghost, Celsius, Alani, RAW, Gaspari, Labrada, Barebells, Quest, Bucked Up, Gorilla Minds, Cellucor, RedCon and so much more.   And yes, I did see Bob Cicherillo at the Palms Hotel, near the pool party, as well as being a VIP member of the Optimum Nutrition event upstairs at that party!
