Big and freaky are two different things

Both Ferrigno and Platz had similar thigh measurements, but only Platz had freaky legs because of his bodyweight.  Freaky is really about genetics and the illusion.

Zane was not big but was freaky given his bodyweight. He had 18+ inch arms at 5'9 185 lbs. with a 29 inch waist and thighs at 27. Arnold had similar 27-28 inch thighs at 6'2 240 lbs. with a 33 inch waist.

Charles Poliquin said you need to gain about 10-15lbs of bodyweight to increase your arm size by 1 inch.  So Zane at 5'9 230 lbs. would be rocking 22-23 inch guns, rivaling Ronnie at 290 lbs. with legs to match and a smaller waist. 

There is some SEO stuff going on now so measurements mean nothing but from pure bodybuilding genetics Frank Zane is the biggest freak.

Zane's genetics at 5'9 250lbs. would be the freakiest thing ever seen on a bodybuilding stage.

Those measurements are not accurate. Arnold never had a 22 inch arm and Ronnie never came even close to 24.

Hes a big guy in the gym that's for sure, seen him in Venice last year, he stands out. Derek just looks like another big short guy. There is at least ten of them there and without being on stage I couldn't pick him out from the others. Samson on the other hand is a big dude there is no one else near his size or presence.

True, I remember seeing late Ed Van Amsterdam in Austria some 20 years ago in the crowd at Grand Prix Graz and he looked freaky AF. Dude was around my height. On the other hand Dennis James looked like a child compared to him. I wonder what a sight it must have been seeing Lou Ferrigno at his comeback

These are pointless photos. Sammy is nothing special. And it's downright sad that he's trying to immitate the classic poses. He's just a bigger version of how all these bodybuilders look nowadays. It's all popcorn muscle (E.B.). They all look the same and are not memorable in a good way. He doesn't hold a candle to the legends that he is being compared to in these photos.
