We conduct freedom of navigation exercises against China in the Pacific. China will almost certainly weaponize that precedent against us for trying to stop their shipping through the Strait of Hormuz. The blockade will come with ramifications. I think mostly political and diplomatic rather than military. This isn’t our strongest path forward. We’d be better off withdrawing and letting Iran’s regional neighbors handle the situation themselves.
