© MuscleMemory   They probably wanted to make up for past controversies. black guys were denied the title until 1970[ melvin wells, arthur harris,sergio oliva, harold poole among others], and hoffman was pretty much a non-factor by 1977 [he had heart bypass surgery.] and pretty much didn't care who won the title. I thought david johns should have beaten kal skalak in 1976. IMHO.

2 other guys that always seemed to get the short end of the stick were Ken Covington and Rock Stonewall.
