There are 30 people who choose the nominees and 1200 people who choose the winner.

Mariah's Paternal Grandmother was African American and lived in the Bronx.  Here Paternal Grandfather was Black and Venezuelan.  Making her Father at the bottom 75 percent black and Mariah 37.5 percent black.   

Her Paternal Grandfather's real name is Roberto Núñez, but he adopted the name Robert Carey when he moved to America.

Both of Mariah's parents were raised in single parent households.  Mariah's Maternal Grandfather died before her mother was born.
