Clear Whey Protein Powder
« on: Today at 05:54:25 AM »
I believe Isopure was the original clear whey RTD protein shake.  There are a few other brands out now.   Anyone use them?  Vitamin Shoppe had a $1 sale of the MyProtein brand the other week and I bought two to try. They were decent.  I got Lemonade flavor.  It really tasted like lemonade.  A little sweet though.  The clerk there told me that the ready to drink ones sold really well, but the tubs of powder did not. That nearly everyone brought them back for refunds and they were considering dropping that brand.  Apparently, despite the most vigorous efforts of man, blender and prayer, they did not dissolve completely.  There were clumps in there that the RTDs didn't seem to have.
Sounds like it is basically EAAs from the way it foams and clumps.

Flavors didn't look too appealing to me. Looks like no one was buying them at my local store. I like the Transparent Labs protein or the Ryse. Isopure is pretty expensive but I always remember it was good quality.

Lurk, have you checked out the Trueview app yet? Download it if you haven’t. It’s pretty eye-opening although not surprising.

They keep updating it because more products definitely need to be tested but some of the results were wild. Like those C4 canned energy drinks containing lots of lead (wtf?)

I saw that.  And one product was 1004% over the lead allowance.

And thanks for sharing that.

That’s what I thought at first but they say it’s Pure Hydrolyzed Whey Isolate.   So probably close to the same thing.

Just started drinking shakes again and I despise every second of it. I dread every single one. They're always horrifically sweet and coat the mouth for ages afterwards. I remember trying the flavorless shakes years ago in the hope that I could add peanut butter, banana and oats to create a meal replacement but it just foamed up so bad I ended up throwing it all out.

This is true.  I buy Beverly.  But it is for recipes (bars and desserts)    I can’t stomach them otherwise. I bought these two Myprotein ones when I was buying the $1 energy drinks.  And they were actually tolerable.  Which makes me wonder if there really was 20g protein in it.  No clumps and good taste.  But apparently there are lots of returns on it.

Understandable. With Shizzo, it could have been cock, booze or candy. The one thing we know it wasn't was a protein shake.

I'll have a search for it. I just need one a day that I can throw some stuff into and turn into breakfast.

I use Beverly as well. I swear the UMP and Muscle Provider taste different now.

I have seen reviews asking if they changed their product because it mixes different now too.   One tub lasts me about a year.   So I haven’t gotten a new one to see for myself yet.

I like some of the juicy flavor clear proteins. Can barely stomach the milky proteins anymore.

Just got a 60ct Rx for juice flavored RTDs :D

I remember trying the flavorless shakes years ago in the hope that I could add peanut butter, banana and oats to create a meal replacement but it just foamed up so bad I ended up throwing it all out.

I have a couple of pharma brand tasteless proteins at the pharmacy. For sick people to add to juice, soups etc. Add to something like orange juice and you can't really taste it, notice a little on thickness and texture depending on concentration. Relatively expensive though.

This thread has taught me that some men like their liquid protein “creamy” while others get excited about the “juicy” flavors.
