RIP Gilad
« on: June 16, 2026, 03:12:07 PM »
I’m not 100% sure that this is real because I’ve only seen a few articles about this but Gilad from Bodies in Motion has died.

https://www.hawaiinewsnow.com/2026/06/10/bodies-motion-fitness-icon-dies-71/

I used to love those shows on ESPN like that one with Rick Valente. PIP! Seemed to be a good guy.

I know someone who claimed to have trained with Gilad. I believe him. This guy had no reason to lie. Gilad’s television days were long gone.

He told me Gilad was a great person, and all he needed was the outdoors to have a good workout. No expensive equipment needed.

Sad news, I remember him from his outdoor nice weather Hawaii fitness shows. Can't remember which TV channel, but it seemed a great way for many people to start with fitness
Low threshhold, easy to follow and copy in their living rooms. Smart concept, not everybody has time / money etc to join a gym.

He was in one of Arnold's books:

He died like a week ago, in Hawaii like Pellius.  71, wonder what happened.  Also his full name was Gilad Janklowicz and he was Israeli so expect conspiracy theories and jew hate.

ESPN was great back then. Sort of aired a lot of stuff like the USA's and I think the Nationals along with their bodybuilding show (forget the name).

I don't know about others but for me it's very hard to motivate myself to workout at home in my living room, even if I consider myself self motivated. Even at a gym by myself is better than at home. I'm mostly by myself at the gym anyway since I train so late.

That would be American Muscle.

Back in the 90s there were only three shows I can remember that had any bodybuilding footage or highlights: American Muscle, MuscleSport USA, and (for all of 4 or 5 months) WBF BodyStars.

Watched them all. I can't believe no cable channel covers bodybuilding. Spike, Vice or any of the dozen ESPN's should as they have banana ball, 3 way soccer and ax throwing.

Haha, I'm exactly the same.  I can't ever bring myself to work out at home.  I just can't do it.  I don't know why.

I've got a 24-hour gym nearby, though, so I'm always there at weird hours of the night, often entirely alone.

I think that there's something about the gym -- the atmosphere and the way it smells of rubber and iron -- that can't be replicated at home.  Also, there are far fewer distractions.  Lastly, I like working out with machines alongside freeweights, and I could never collect a large number of machines at home.
