Ray isn't small but definitely useless. Looks like estrogen has skyrocketed.  I think he works out though. In his interviews you can clearly see he has an air of superiority over his contemporaries who now have health problems.

Is Food Noise a real thing though?

$3,500 a month. That's a little over $40K a year, basically less than what some school teachers make.

$5,000 a month is around $60K, entry-level technical job fresh out of college.

Can’t ignore inflation for 30 years though. Multiply by at least 2-2.5. $92-130K a year for an up and coming bodybuilder to inject drugs and work out in California back in the 90s isn’t exactly a tough job.

The Weider contracts weren't serious, mostly photos and showing up for Weider promotions. It averaged 2-4 days of real work.  Rest was gym and show prep.

Naturals shouldn't think Dillet's drug response was normal and this would happen to them too if they took drugs, it was clearly very abnormal.

Bodybuilders' real job has always been drug deals, PEDs but sometimes rec drugs. They also like to be fronted drugs and then they forget to pay their debts. Lots of different scams is common. I heard a story about a pro bb being forced to kneel at gunpoint in the locker room at the gym and him crying. Sometimes you rip off the wrong person.

This is why Arnold got money from old schmoes
He earned his corn not unlike modern bodybuilders doing seedy Gay for pay..infact one could say Arnold paved the way for the modern bi sexual bodybuilding industry
Arnold certainly is an icon amongst bodybuilders  :D

This is probably 1992, 34 years ago.

$5K then is like almost 12K now.

Are you using today’s salaries in Florida for 1993 income?
Starting pay for school teachers is at $70 in most SoCal districts. They work 185 days in a calendar year.

$70K in Southern Cal is more like $40K here (even today).

They weren't serious until the WBF showed up. For example, "The Future" Jim Quinn got $125,000 a year as a rookie after in 1990 winning the North American Championships, the very show Paul Dillet won two years later.

Taking everything into account,  who was more impressive Gary Strydom or Paul Dillet,  both among the best ever from the front, tall and wide, and massive with a V taper and great abs. Terrible posers and weak backs but look like Mr. Olympia just standing relaxed.

I have no idea what Gary looks like now but a few years back he was still in great shape.

Paul looks like he never lifted a day in his life. I wonder if he had "health" problems that required him to come off everything. I know he had injuries that limit what he can do in the gym but I dont get how you can be Freakzilla one day then be just fine looking like a scarecrow. Its like he doesn't even try to workout and he's still involved in bodybuilding.  Isn't he the head of some bodybuilding federation?

It's called RETIREMENT.

For example, no one is still expecting Troy Aikman to still pass for 4,000+ yards and 30 TDs, decades after he called it quits.

Plus, if he were still trying to be super big, some people would be calling him a "drug addict" and claiming that all his self-esteem is in bodybuilding; so he can't give up the steroids or the vanity of bodybuilding.

But he literally looks like a scarecrow, though.  It's like he doesn't even train any longer.

Take Aikman.  If you bring him to your weekend barbecue and flag football match, he still be the best quarterback there by a mile!  He's still WAY better than the average human at throwing around a football.  If you bring Dillett to your weekend barbecue, he'd be the skinniest and weakest guy there, and he'd be picked dead last on the team.  He looks actually worse than the average guy who lifts weights twice a week and maybe dabbles in TRT.

You can be retired and still look great.  Vince Taylor, for instance.  Maybe Dillett just doesn't like training, so he quit completely?
