I read a great commentary today about the hole in the ground next to the Whitehouse. Congress waited too long to do something about Trump's executive overreach. The same is true of the legal system. Once the East Wing was demolished it was too late to act against it. Now we have an obscene, ginormous, ugly hole with a stop order on the construction of what promises to be a garish, gold-leafed ballroom/Trump vanity monument. This is an unfortunate expense for the "people's house" and taxpayers.

It is. Some weird, autistic foreigner just can't accept anything Trump does. His entire personality/life revolves around what the MSM says about Trump. Very strange behavior.

I was questioning possible mis/disinformation, not the ballroom itself:

I thought that was pretty plain to see.   ???

It is not privately funded- even then the way that was handled was clandestine with contributions being covert for the most part

Seems the issue is what is considered ballroom construction vs security/infrastructure upgrades.  And, from your article, it looks like a much larger project was proposed after the shooting incident at the dinner.

But, regardless of the President, I have zero issue if 1 billion dollars is spent on improvements to the White House, and couldn't care less if they/Trump wanted to put in a ballroom.  I want our White House to be awesome, and the gov't has enough money to cover that.

But if we are being fair, and I can't tell from the article, did Trump continue to say it's all privately funded AFTER the shooting incident, and all the additional infrastructure costs are too?  Because that would be disingenuous and a lie.

He pivoted after the shooting which is a little dubious to be honest after it was ruled on by a judge, unless my timeline is mistaken. The extra money is going to things for the ballroom, windows etc.

Either way I could not care less about the ballroom on its face, it's the link to corrupt practices that may be going on, mixed with him not getting proper approval before ripping down a historic piece of american history. It's a vanity project which isn't necessary at all.

Obama said he wouldn't even redecorate because of the financial situation of some people in an interview. It seems distasteful on it's face but if it's legal and popular go for it.

Truthfully, I can't stand his self-absorption. These vanity projects to boost his ego are a symptom of the illness the elite class has. It's a let them eat cake position.

I mean it when I say I do not give one iota of attention to this stuff.  I don't know what it looks like, what the proposal is, if it's necessary, etc....I do know renovations have been happening all the time under various admins, and assume this is just more selective outrage because that's the motive for everyone against Trump.

But hilarious that folks are up in arms about ripping down a "historic piece of American history" yet were perfectly fine with statues being toppled regularly that were just that.

Ya its hypocrisy. Only time I would be up in arms is if there was financial gain from toppling those said statues or they were being replaced with some monument to self-aggrandizement. Honors like that should be bestowed not self given imo.

It's really the concatenation of issues with him, each thing singularly isn't drop your jaw problematic per se.

The ballroom (also the nickname for Necrosis mouth) is privately funded, the extra security improvements below the ballroom are taxpayer funded, all of this was covered before and that's why it was a dropped issue. That is until some canadian retard forgot he already got slapped around on the subject and avoided it like he avoids his patients dirty diapers.

Not true, did you read the link? parts are funded via the public. Also, there was zero mention of a bunker underneath when he started demolition (which was ruled against him).

It's a dropped issue because he isn't allowed to do what he did.

Agree with that.  Self bestowment (if that's even a word), is not how this stuff should work.

And, in an my mind, it goes back to what got me into all this shit day one - a dishonest media, and big tech's manipulation of content.

If those are not truthful, history will not be, what gets bestowed will be f'd as well.

Shit, the more we uncover about the past, it's probably already been happening regularly forever so who cares lol?.

Necrosis,
Is Canada going to do any renovations on their "Whitehouse"?
Will they finally install indoor plumbing?

I am literally not saying anything of the sort, not even sure how you contrived that.

I am saying a dishonest media can lead to a dishonest history, which can lead to an undue bestowment.

Citizens should be concerned, but if they are consuming false information, that isn't good.
