I just can't decide. It's gonna come down to who's less shot. Errol took a frightful beating by Crawford. He seems slower cognitively that years past. He's also got a history of poor decision making outside of the ring. Then a week or two before the fight he has the fight moved from junior middleweight to middleweight. This gives me pause. Tszyu on the other hand has taken his share of punishment as well. The 1st loss to Fundora was a fight he should have never taken on short notice. Then the headbutt that his corner should have stopped the fight after and would have spared him punishment and that loss. He came back too quick against Murtazaliev. Then ran into Fundora who really is peaking. I just can't make a call.
Tszyu is younger, bigger, more disciplined, etc. Spence is more of a 5 tool fighter to put it in baseball terms. Gun to head, I say Spence's legs are shot and Tszyu stops him in 5 or 6.
I saw Spence blamed his loss to Crawford on a "trash" training camp and blamed his coach for the camp. But it turns out Spence wasn't doing what he was told- it came down to Spence not sparing- his coach told him he had to sparing. Spence's dad stepped in and said Errol did not need to spar. Do it sounded to me like Errol or his Dad was to blame for a trash camp.
Now in this fight with Tzyu Spence can't make weight and has to bump it up to MW.from JrMW. It tells me Spence probably had another "trash" camp. Unless it was a ploy and he planned on fighting at MW all along but just letting Tzyu to sweat down to JrMW?
Based on the weight issue, I now have to lean toward Tzyu.
No. Tim is not Kostya and doesn't even deserve to be mentioned in the same breath as Kostya. But Spence isn't fighting Kostya. If Kostya and Spence were both in their primes and at the same weight, Kostya would murder Errol. Period.
