Why oh why would anyone do this?

Maybe he is hoping for monies if the media picks up the story again. Perhaps he's hoping for an offer to sell his rights to a tell-all movie/book?

I bet he thought no one would believe him, and most of the people involved are dead. Guy's got cancer, a lot of the story was out already, so I think he was just hoping to get paid, and if anyone serious came looking he'd just say he lied. It was his OJ style "If I Did It" payday, and he just got too cute with it.

I worked there 5 years after he was capped. The cops wouldn't have gotten much from me.

Maybe, you never can tell, but a lot of the people Puff supposedly used are dead now from violence, natural causes. The main guy that worked as a middleman was Eric "Von Zip" Martin, everything supposedly when through him, and he's been dead around 15 years.
