Lee Haney Successfully Undergoes 12-Hour Kidney Transplant
Bodybuilding legend and eight-time Mr. Olympia champion Lee Haney has successfully undergone a kidney transplant after a difficult 12-hour surgery.
Haney shared the news on September 29, thanking his family, fans, and everyone who supported him during his search for a kidney donor. Earlier this year, his family launched a campaign after doctors determined that he urgently needed a transplant.
The most remarkable part of Haney’s story is the identity of his donor. Richard Miller, a fellow bodybuilder who first crossed paths with Haney in 1985 and later competed in bodybuilding, stepped forward to donate his kidney.
Haney expressed his deep gratitude to Miller, calling him his “Iron Brother” and “hero.” He also thanked the medical team at Emory University for their care throughout the process.
After waking up from the 12-hour operation, Haney described the transplant as another testimony of God’s grace.
At 8x Mr. Olympia, Haney has already left an unforgettable mark on bodybuilding. Now, he begins another important chapter—recovery and a new chance at life
