I'm almost 30 years old yet Bob has been lifting weights before I was born.  I don't think he needs any training tips

Bob is a genetic freak.  He would be big no matter what he does which is obvious judging from what I saw of him in the 2002 BFTO tape.  Not meant as a diss, but his training was nothing special intensity wise and very heavily machine based.

Not to mention how big he was at 21.  It's obvious he would grow no matter what he did.  He is highly mesomorphic.

I've incorporated many different kinds of training over the past 27 years....most of it was and still is, freeweight based. machines are a great alternative and gives some much needed newness to a DB/ BB style workout.

The 2002 BFTO tapes are shot 1-2 weeks out of a show, when most of us are in a depleting mode, and have cut the sets/weight down...of course you're not going to see anything too spectacular...

I used the squat for the majority of my leg building from 1979-1998. I was never that strong (by pro standards) and maxed out at around 600. I was always better at endurance/ high reps...my best was 405 for 32 reps...likewise for the leg press.

I blew out my L-5 disc (broke it in half, actually) in 1998 preparing for the USA...playing baseball of all things. I had major surgery 5 weeks later, where they removed the broken disc which was impinging the nerve, and had the vertebrae fused together for strength...

The squatting days were over...

After recovering and NO weights for 8 weeks, I was able to slowly stat the recoup process...I got back up to strength...altered my workouts to compensate, and was able to mount a comeback with a 2nd place finish at the 1999 Nationals (HVYWHT).

The following USA I won...the rest is history.....

The moral of the story? Why complain....! (Sorry, thats Ronnie's story...)

The lesson is....squat, don't squat....use whatever resources you have to get the results you need from your training...there lots of equipment, exercises, freeweights, machines...that can stimulate muscular breakdown...don't be afraid to try new routines, mix it up.

TRAIN SMARTER, NOT HARDER!

well while most of alexxxs posts are shit, i see no difference between his posts and bob's.  bob is a pro but his posts aren't more interesting, entertaining, or educational than alexxx's or any other random getbigger's.  gh15, whoever he is, is the only pro that posts interesting shit, and dick jones did as well when he did post here.   what the hell point does bob serve on this board other than crying to 240 and deleting posts?

Here is what I could gather about gh15 from his previous posts (I have no inside knowledge of who he is):

-Think Eurpean
-non-black
-not American
-younger than Bob Chick
-from a country not heavily drug (roid) regulated
-Has long posts at getbig.com   :D
-not top 5 BBer (yet)
-knows a lot about hormones
-has rich parents
-mentions the countries, Turkey, Russia, and Cheq Republic in his posts
-English is not his first language
-Probably somewhat religious as he mentions "god" in his posts (I have no idea which religion)

Motherboy (the band).

True...and I agree that most pro's are pre-disposed to grow and respond quickly (thats what makes them eventual pros).

I made phenomenal progress consistently at an early age just from training, eating and sleeping...archaic equipment, no supps/ drugs...no dieting.

My point to the people, is to not do exercises just because everyone else is doing them. The squat, bench, BB curl are WAY overrated, and with todays technology/ equipment advances...there are choices. In the old days there weren't.

Most of the basics and "foundation" exercises were made up in the 1800's (literally). They performed these exercises because thats ALL they had to work with. They had nothing to compare it too.

I agree that Bob has amazing genetix for gaining size. A lot of guy here are bitching chick's physique only for what he says on board.

I disagree with praticly everything Chicks write at getbig and the whole 240/chick war make him lost a lot of credibility. However we will all agree that 240 is sometimes ( ok often ) a pain in the ass.

Bob, I will give you the props you deserve: You look awesome especially when I see pics of you in the venice area. Damn you are huge.
I have a question for you. I always hear that everybody can get to 240lbs ( we are talking about a guy who would be 5"10 - 6"00 ). not contest shape but in ok condition with abs.
What do you think about that

Yeah...lets use 2 Mr. Olympia's as our example for 99.99999% of the people this is aimed at. I've got a newsflash for you...most people in gym would rather look like me, than look like Dorian or Ronnie. I chose a long time ago to not push the envelope to be the best in the world.

Mr. Olympia's of ALL people, are the exception to the rules when comparing to everyday Joes in the gym, or even 95% of the pro's...thats why they're the best in the world...no different than a Michael Jordan, Lance Armstrong, or Muhammad Ali.

Dorian, BTW...has been quoted in MANY articles/ interviews, that he would've trained differently given his injuries which cut his career short...and his experience after the fact.

I understand exactly where Bob is comin from....I've suffered nasty injuries myself and you have to work with whatever resources you can to compensate.  Most of you punks have no idea what it means to have heart enough to come back from a bad injury.

No...not everybody can get to 240 lbs. nor more than "everybody" can get 21 in. arms. I know guys that trained like animals, took every drug in the book, etc..and STILL couldn't get to a National level physique, let alone a Pro level one.

Even Pro's have a cap on making gains (being tapped out, so to say). How often do we hear of a guy making it Pro, and THEN saying, "I have to bring up my arms, legs, chest, etc...." I got news for them, if they didn't do it in the 15-20 years of training TRYING to get their pro card...it aint going to happen in the NEXT 5 years. Anyone can make progress at the pro level, but you're not going from a 19 in. arm to a 22 in. arm...aint gonna happen.

Anyone, however, can make great progress training consistantly and smart, thus staying injury free most of the time and mixing up theirr routines for fresh gains.

This is true.  That is why most do not compete.  They want to be big but Arnold big but not Ronnie big.  Getting up to 320 in the offseason is not reasonable for most people.

320 in the offseason isn't reasonable for most pros!!! (Nor reccomended)

Bad for the health, bad for appearances, bad for the company you represent, bad for the sport you represent, can't see what shoes you've got on, can't wipe your ass......

I disagree. No offense Bob but if all bodybuilders where so genetically gifted then they would all win every year and to be honest about 80 % of bodybuilders look like crap. Just walking pharmacies.

You sound like a stang up kind of guy. Have you ever done hit or any other program? Why don't you train like Ray he was a midget but had the shape he wanted. If thats what you are going for then you could shape yourself into arnold.  ;)
