I’m sure the one that was described and the one that will be available to the public are different (assuming it’s made available). Musk has been good at taking concepts to development. The flying car will be something future generations build on, but he same way he’s popularized the electric vehicle.

In future society people will not be driving, i.e. behind a steering wheel. You just select the destination and it's automated from there on. Less accidents but less romantic as well. People will look back and think how crazy it was to let people have all this potentially destructive power.
