What’s the point of protesting against AI? It’s already here and it will continue advancing regardless of protests. Banning it in the US would only put us at a disadvantage. Other nations will push ahead and develop superior AI. Technology is inevitable. It’s like horse and buggy workers protesting the automobile or telegraph operators protesting the telephone.

If you don't want to watch it, here's the summary: Bill Gates explains that only a moron would believe a.i. is like the steam engine and will actually create more jobs than it takes away. In the past machines were good at one or a few things, obviously that was not a threat to humans. However a.i. being smarter than humans and better at pretty much anything, how is that going to create jobs 

He proposes that society doesn't need to accept it, and suggests at least taxing a.i. agents to keep the pensions afloat. I recommend watching the video.

Your thread title seems to be calling for people to protest AI. What would that actually accomplish? A government ban? I’m not in favor of that. Some guardrails might make sense, but AI is a useful tool, and if certain jobs become obsolete as a result, so be it. Banning it just to protect outdated work would only put us behind other societies.
